LOCATION: Lying in the northwest  corner of  Colorado is Moffat county, rich in history of the west, old and new. Browns Park is one of the last strong holds of outlaws and general lawlessness, characters of the park were Queen Ann Bassett, Isom Dart, Tom Horn. To the west of Browns Park is the Utah State line and Flaming Gorge Lake and to the north Rock Springs Wyoming is 90 miles up through Irish Canyon. Maybell  is to the east  25 miles and Craig 55. Rock Springs is a community of 20 thousand with all the services of a small city, Craig Colorado is home to 12 thousand and growing with everything that one needs, complete up to date modern medical services with a hospital and plans for a new one. Moffat county has one of the best school districts in the state, Maybell has a renown elementary school first thru fourth grade, also Maybell has a general store that is the hub of the community selling gas, diesel, groceries, gifts, ect. A ranch town in truest of definitions.

ACCESS: Access to and  from the Solace Ranch is via Colorado State Hiway 318, 25 miles west of Maybell and 90 miles south of Rock Springs via Wyoming Hiway 413 south. Commercial  airports are found in Rock Springs WY and in Hayden CO, with private jet capabilities at Craig CO.

DESCRIPTION: The Solace Ranch is under the second generation of ownership. The Solace family has operated the ranch as a cow calf operation historically although in the past few years to the present, has leased the grass to neighbors. The ranch lies in the part of northwest Colorado that is known for milder winter climate and ease to winter livestock and the fact that the grass is ready there early add to the compatibility of livestock to the land.

WILDLIFE: Northwest Colorado is renowned world wide for its big game hunting, with The Solace ranch being part of that. On the ranch you find of course world class Elk and Mule Deer along with Antelope and Mountain Lion. Small game species include rabbits both cottontails and snowshoe, sage grouse and the ever popular Coyote and Red Fox.

HUNTING: The ranch lies within hunting unit #2, which is a premier draw unit for trophy Elk where 300 class bulls are normal with some taken in the 400 range. Mule Deer found in that area are also trophy quality, Antelope are plentiful. Although in the draw  the landowner has the opportunity to apply for the “Landowner Pool”. Colorado Division of Wildlife Statute #334103, subsection 2A-E describes the process. The Solace Ranch containing 4022.04 acres can apply for six land owner vouchers in each species, Elk, Mule Deer and antelope. 15% of the total number of licenses in each species is held for the land owners. Interested parties should contact the Division of wildlife to verify any questions.

IIMPROVEMENTS: Home is where the heart is and when you drive into the ranch it is easy to see that the Solace family was comfortable and proud of their home. The native rock work is fantastic and done with purpose and care. From the yard gate up the walk to the covered patio complete with its own rock fireplace to the very nicely done patio level rock storage/cellar, rock  walk ways deliver you around the yard and to the entrance to the stucco home.

At the ranch headquarters you will find a unique set of corrals designed and made for efficient service, from the cedar post construction to the layout it is easy to see the knowledge and sweat used to build this set of corrals form the loading chute to the round corral. A tack room and loafing shed are also within the confines of the corral. An open front machine shed with metal roof , two story rock face shop/storage building with a refrigerated cooler, operable chicken house, metal covered wood storage along with several other buildings of various uses.
