LOCATION: The Zech Hunting Ranch is located 18 miles south of the community of Maybell via Moffat County Road 57, and 23 miles north of Meeker on Rio Blanco County Road 7, which is the same road. The ranch road accesses from CR 57 in Moffat County at the bottom of "Strawberry Creek Hill" (which is private) and enters the property immediately.

Set in a very private valley this 786.69 +/- acre ranch is situated so one can view the fields, mountain ranges to the south and wildlife as they feed in the mornings and evenings.

Along with elk you will find mule deer abundant here. Hunting records show great success in both mule deer and elk harvest of mature animals on a very consistent basis. In the past Zech ranch has been host to as many as 32 hunters spread from bow season through the end of rifle season. The Zech Ranch and the approximately 8,000 contiguous acres of BLM lands bordering the ranch to the east keeps the hunters coming back year after year.

Ranging from 6800 to 8200 feet in elevation the terrain consists of grassy bottoms with native grasses indigenous to the area, hills with sagebrush and oak brush covering to stands of cedar trees along the ridges.
